Laurel Angell

Legal Advisor

Laurel D. Angell, J.D., is a climate and conservation policy and law advisor and also currently serves as the Executive Director of the Wheeler Center for Public Policy at Montana State University. Her career has centered on finding common ground solutions to address the climate and biodiversity crises. She is a strategic and legal consultant for foundations and climate/environmental organizations on public funding, deep canvassing, and overall strategies to restore and enhance lands and waters in service to people, nature, and more resilient and equitable communities. Her inclusive leadership on climate and conservation is informed by the variety of roles she’s played over the years, spanning the U.S. Congress, the Peace Corps, the National Park Service, NGOs, and foundations, and as an independent campaign consultant and media strategist.

She believes deeply in the mission of Local Insights, and in working to provide a local, sustainable and authentic travel experience for travelers interested in a deeper and more memorable experience that also benefits marginalized and in-need communities.

Ms. Angell received her J.D. and M.S.E.L from Vermont Law School and is a member of the California bar. She now lives in Bozeman, Montana, with a menagerie of rescue pets, and when she can find a good pet sitter, likes to travel.
