How to Become a local

How do I become a Local?

At this time we are only accepting Locals referred by our partners.  We are seeking non-profits and NGOs that provide employment and business training.  If you have a particular organization that you think would be a good fit, please let us know and we’ll reach out.

what makes a good local?

Participants should be nominated by a non-profit or NGO as a high-potential candidate that will benefit from our training as well as have the ability to engage with travelers in an informative manner.  Participants should be internet intelligent, able to create an online profile, communicate in English (additional languages coming), and have a smartphone or reliable access to an internet-connected computer.

Is this tour guide training?

No.  Local Insights is not a tour guiding company.  We believe that getting to know people as individuals makes the world a better place.  We are seeking locals who have interesting stories to tell.  Perhaps you have lived in your city for 70 years, perhaps you have intimate knowledge of a popular attraction, or maybe you have a background others would find interesting.  The options are endless and we ensure your profile reflects your unique personality.

Why should i become a local?

Easy, to share your story!  Travelers everywhere visit places and are seeking a deeper understanding of the culture.  What better way to learn about a place than by engaging with Locals like you?  There is no cost associated with taking the training from Local Insights.  We will provide you with all of the tools and resources you need to become a successful Local.  After successful completion of the training program, you will be eligible to post a profile on the Local Insights platform and conduct encounters as much or as little as your schedule permits, all while earning a paycheck.
